QUALIFICATIONS

Payroll Associates is responsible for supporting the end-to-end processing of Australian payroll for multiple entities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

This role focuses on accurate data entry, validation of payroll inputs, and ensuring the timely delivery of fortnightly payrolls for employees across Australia.

  • Strongly preferred:
    • Familiar with Australian payroll legislation (ATO, Superannuation, Modern Awards).
    • Experience with large-scale payroll platforms such as iChris/Chris21, SAP, Oracle, Preceda, Pay Global, or similar
    • Prior experience in BPO or Shared Services, supporting Australian or APAC clients
    • High level of discretion and respect for confidential personal and financial information
    • A service-oriented mindset when addressing employee and HR inquiries
    • A process-driven team player with a strong willingness to learn and grow within the payroll function
  • At least 2 years in payroll, HR admin, data processing, or shared services. Australian payroll experience is mandatory.
  • Basic technical skills—able to navigate through smartphone and computer applications
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., V-lookups, pivot tables) and experience working within a payroll system
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a process-focused mindset
  • High accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Can independently and collaboratively within a remote team
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Willingness to work an Australian/New Zealand shift

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with processing fortnightly payrolls in strict accordance with Australian legislation and established company deadlines
  • Validate timesheets and leave entries to ensure total accuracy prior to final payroll processing
  • Perform basic payroll calculations, covering overtime, penalty rates, and leave accruals
  • Ensure payroll transactions comply with Australian standards, including the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, ATO requirements, and Superannuation Guarantee rules
  • Support the reconciliation of payroll reports through gross-to-net checks, variance analysis, and audit trails
  • Assist in reporting checks and error identification to maintain data integrity
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from Australian employees and HR departments via dedicated email mailboxes
  • Escalate complex queries to Team Payroll Processors, the Payroll Lead, or the Payroll Assistant Manager as needed
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files while adhering to the highest confidentiality and data privacy standards
  • Support the preparation of standard payroll reports as required by management or clients
