Open Access BPO Doubles Down on a Greener Future with Tree-Planting Initiatives

MAKATI CITY, Philippines, June 2, 2025 — Multilingual call center Open Access BPO successfully completed its “Plant it Forward: Tree-Planting Initiative 2025,” a two-part event reflecting the company’s growing commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

The “Plant it Forward” initiative saw enthusiastic participation from employees across the company’s two Philippine offices, in Makati and Davao. Both separate tree-planting events were strategically held in areas identified for crucial reforestation.

For the inaugural event of the “Plant it Forward” initiative, Open Access BPO partnered with Fostering Education & Environment for Development (FEED), a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to sustainable education and environmental conservation.

The activity took place at the UP Laguna-Quezon Land Grant in Siniloan, Laguna—part of the Sierra Madre’s expansive 9,000+ hectare protected forest. The focus was on targeted reforestation and biodiversity conservation within this crucial ecosystem.

Open Access BPO’s Makati volunteers successfully planted 200 saplings of Philippine indigenous forest trees, including Bagtikan, Daligdigan, Dulitan, Malaruhat-puti, and Mayapis.

The second tree-planting initiative was held in Barangay Eden, located in Davao City’s upland Toril District.

Open Access BPO Davao partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) for this event.

It was specifically organized to aid in the reforestation and rehabilitation of the Talomo-Lipadas Watershed. This critical area is a vital water source for a significant portion of Davao City.

A Budding Commitment to Sustainability

“Plant it Forward” marks the beginning of Open Access BPO’s commitment to environmental sustainability. This inaugural effort serves not only to create a tangible positive impact on the environment but also to empower employees through meaningful volunteer opportunities. The dedication and enthusiasm of the employee volunteers in making these events successful highlight the company’s belief in the importance of environmental responsibility.

“‘Plant it Forward’ is the first step in Open Access BPO’s larger plan to contribute to a greener planet,” Sebastian stated.

“A larger part of that plan is to embed environmental sustainability into the core of our company’s corporate social responsibility efforts and operations.”

Volunteers from both activities planted 300 Philippine indigenous trees, which were selected to help maintain the biodiversity in the area.
